USPS Tracking Order
What can I do to track my USPS package?
You can track your USPS package in 2 ways, one way is that you can use the USPS tracking tool to determine where your package is, but beware, if you are sending an item internationally then you may struggle to track or not have the most updated news and location on the whereabouts of your package.
The most favoured way to track a package internationally would be to use the Ship Resolve free-to-use tracking system available on the platform where you can enter up to 10 tracking numbers, no matter where they are sent from and delivered to, no matter how many stops they make along the way. This can be done unlimited times and 24 hours a day 365 days a year.
USPS Tracking Number
Your USPS tracking number will be between 10 and 22 characters long, if you are sending nationally then your characters will only be numbers, but if you are sending Internationally then it will be a mixture of letters and numbers. You can find your tracking number from one of these options:
- From the USPS Post Office shipping receipt.
- From the email confirmation if you have shipped from USPS.
- The shipping confirmation email you received from an online retailer.
- The bottom peel-off portion of your USPS Tracking label.
What different USPS tracking notifications will I see?
When you are tracking your item, you will notice that there are 6 different types of status updates when tracking via USPS they are as follows:
- Delivered – This would mean that your item has been delivered with a recorded time, location and date of delivery, usually along with the name of the courier who delivered the item. If your item hasn’t been delivered but shows the delivered status then you need to check certain things, check around your mailbox for the item to make sure the courier hasn’t left it in a safe place for you, check with others in your house to make sure they haven’t taken delivery of the item whilst you weren’t there, in some cases the package could show as being delivered but take another 24 hours to get to you, if that happens then you can go to your local post office to check the package hasn’t been safely kept there.
- Notice Left – This is when you have an unsuccessful delivery attempt and your package has been kept safely with the delivery person. On the notice, you will find that you can re-schedule delivery for a time that is more convenient for you, you could also pick your package up from the local post office, but make sure you take proof of purchase and photo id along with you.
- Delivery Status Not Updated – This means that your item has been marked for delivery at the final checkpoint, but has not yet been processed onto a delivery van, this means your delivery is imminent.
- Receptacle Blocked – This means that the carrier has made his way to your mailbox or property and couldn’t access the mailbox and could not reach the address. When this occurs, the package will automatically be returned to your local post office to be delivered the next business day. There will be a fairly simple explanation as to why the carrier could not deliver this could be because there is a parked vehicle, there are utility works being carried out or maybe the weather conditions couldn’t warrant a safe delivery of your package.
- No Access – This is when the carrier was unable to deliver to your address. Usually, if the delivery was scheduled for a Sunday, don’t worry, your package will arrive the next following day, if it has been more than 24 hours since the initial message then you can contact your local post office.
- In Transit – This means that your item is in transit to its destination. This usually means that the item is being processed by your local post office or being transported to its destination from the post office facility. You may see the scan appearing multiple times at the same facility, this could be in different areas of the facility or on different days.
